Phase 1
Verify Existing SLD
From 1 October 2025
Vehicles registered from January 2015 onwards. Verify your factory-fitted SLD is functional and obtain the Laporan Kefungsian SLD.
Phase 2
Activate ECU-Based SLD
From 1 January 2026
Pre-2015 vehicles with an SLD-capable ECU. Activate the device at an authorized facility and renew every 2 years.

Deadline: 1 July 2026
Vehicles above 3,500kg GVW without a built-in SLD must have a new JPJ-compliant retrofit device installed. This is the most common case.

Yes. All commercial vehicles above 3,500kg GVW are required to have a functioning SLD under JPJ's phased enforcement. The Phase 3 deadline for retrofit installation is 1 July 2026. Vehicles without SLD risk permit revocation.

What documents will I receive?
Depending on your vehicle's SLD category: activation jobs receive a Slip Pengesahan Kefungsian SLD, while full retrofit installations receive a Laporan Kefungsian SLD (Retrofit SLD Report). Both are valid for PUSPAKOM inspection and JPJ compliance. Documents are uploaded to your MySLD portal within 1–3 business days after submission.
